Alpharetta Massage Therapy, Which Massage Is Best For You?

The benefits of massage have long been studied. But which type of massage is right for you? At North Atlanta Spine Dr. Alex Paulk and Lmt Ayesha Nesbeth-Aguila will determine which type of massage would both be most effective and most beneficial for you.

Sports Massage

Focuses on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements or sport related pain/injury. Sports massage therapy can be used as a means to enhance pre-event preparation and reduce recovery time for maximum performance.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release allows the tightness, trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures to be released from the body. The fascia can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.) This is a low pressure technique that is very effective. It is recommended to schedule a 90-120min treatment to reap the full benefits.

Neuromuscular Massage

Addresses ischemia (tight tissues with reduced blood flow), neural entrapment (pressure on nerves by muscles and other soft tissues), nerve compression, myofascial release, postural assessment (assessment of the position of the body as a whole), dysfunctional gait patterns (manner of movement when walking) and disorders such as fibromyalgia

Trigger Point

A trigger point is a tight muscle that causes pain in other parts of the body. For example, a tight muscle in the back may cause pain in the lower neck which may then satellite into a tension headache. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache. This therapy is designed to specifically alleviate the source(s) of pain

Deep Tissue

Targets the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints) Some may think that deep tissue is extremely firm painful pressure. Deep tissue is work done to deeper layers of the body. Working through superficial muscles. It may be uncomfortable at times but we will make sure to work with your comfort level.

Swedish

Relaxing Light/medium pressure massage. It increases the level of oxygen in the blood, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Pregnancy Massage

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. We accept mothers in their 2nd or 3rd trimester. It is a healthy way to reduce stress, help backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps and edema (or swelling) and a great compliment to your Chiropractic treatment.

Massage has also been proven to help increase women's fertility naturally. It promotes hormonal balance, increases circulation to the uterus and cervix & improves endocrine system communication. The National Center for Biotechnology proved that women who receive massage during IVF treatments have a 32-58 higher percentage rate of success then women who do not receive massage during IVF treatments.
